October 15, 2020 - The Kindred Path: Fall Traditions

Updated: Mar 12, 2021

Here at TKP, we are all about those fall traditions that bring family and friends close, even if they might look a little different this year. So we asked and you answered- "What are you favorite fall traditions?" Here is what you told us, along with some favorite fall portrait inspiration by our talented readers (because how could we resist)!

We can not get enough of those dreamy fall tones and cozy feels!

"Every year my kids and I take an afternoon to visit the mountains and go apple picking. The fresh air and watching them reach for the highest apples they can, brings joy to my heart, and is a visual reminder of just how much they have grown from the previous year. It's a tradition that we all look forward to year after year."

"One of favorite fall traditions is carving our pumpkins together; we start with a trip to the pumpkin patch to pick out the best ones. We then spend a cool Saturday morning together, newspaper spread across the kitchen table, drawing out the silliest pumpkin faces we can think of, pulling out all the guts and saving the seeds. Our girls love seeing the faces lit up by candles at night! And of course, we always end the day by roasting the pumpkin seeds afterwards for our favorite fall snack!"

"As much as I love frolicking through corn mazes, and picking out the perfect pumpkin, nothing beats snuggling up with my children on a chilly fall evening. We cozy up on the couch in our warm home, surrounded by the smell of delicious seasonal candles and read our favorite fall stories."

"I just shared a photo from a recent session, it’s a sweet fam that’s moving but hanging outside their home before they move out of town. I shared a little mom hack, what I love to do with my boys- I take them to Home Depot and we try out all the fun/scary animated Halloween decorations and call it a “haunted house”. Here are a few recent images too!"

**These words are from my mama who was photographed in these images.**

"The fall season is what brings the opportunity to travel to northern California to visit family and celebrate and do all the family traditions together as a family. Since becoming a mama the fall season has allowed for new fall traditions like visiting the local pumpkin patch and I find that I bake and decorate more in hopes of making it fun and memorable for my son." -Brianna Powell

"Where can I even start? As soon as that crisp, cool breeze starts filtering through the trees, all I want to do is be outside and in the fresh air. I could do every single fall activity out there, but to be honest my favorite is taking pictures with the world's most beautiful backdrop - the change in nature is just extraordinary. Top on my list? Taking photos of my own family."

We hope you found delight and inspiration, both artistically and in those cozy traditions that fall brings every year. We look forward to seeing more of your beautiful work!
